He said to me these words " football is such a simple game. Coaches make it complicated for no reason at all. If you can block and you can tackle then you can win". Those words never rang more true than last night. Unnion could not block or tackle there fore we lost. Our problem is spawning out of the coaching position. We have the most talent have had in years and some of the dumbest play calling and play execution i have ever seen. Union dont do any pull blockers or lead block with a fullback. On the D line, Union dont do any trades or shoots or any type of stunts to free up linebackers. Its like peanut football for real. a very vanilla play book and even more hum drum execution of the plays. Something has to give somewhere or No Coach will have a job soon at Union.
I continually am never surprised by the ignorance of the posts by people like you. You obviously do not have a clue how school systems work. You can't just get rid or fire an entire coaching staff because in the days of SOLs these men are teachers as well. They do their job both in the classroom and on the sidelines well. Do you have any idea how hard it would be to replace 9 teacher/coaches? Not to mention the legal aspects of that. Even if they got rid of them as coaches there aren't 9 people in the school system who would be willing or def be more qualified to coach. Is there room for improvement, yes for sure, but still this isn't professional sports where you can just fire people. So the coaches are here to stay. So why don't you learn to support them for the tons of things they are doing right and the sacrifices they are making for our communities and kids or go support JI Burton or Central or Eastside who play cup cake schedules so that you can feel good about their wins against Tri-cities Christian/ Rye Cove/Twin Valley caliber teams so you don't have to make cowardly comments on the internet!

Thats not true, and if things do not improve these coaches wont be here much longer at all. It would be different if teams were just better than UHS, but they arent.
Re: If Turner loses to JI Burton this year that puts us in .
most of them shouldnt be ther much longer. you have one running to the principle every other day downing the other coaches which is chicken shart to me. his day will come if he coaches softball like he did in appy they will have him on the chopping block just like they do travis.

as a GREAT coach says, and you know who I'm talking about - "you are what your record says you are". rigt now our record tells us we are not as good as Clintwood. looking forward to seeing what our record tells us we are like against Union and Central.

Cupcake schedules? Central beat Union so I guess you all were part of their cupcake schedule and Union is possibly to get beat by Burton. Turner would be a productive coach if he knew to tell his assistant coaches to back off.

It is true that they can't just get rid of the coaches because of sports! Plus lots of those guys are hometown guys and a few have pull with the school board if you know what I mean. Plus if you get rid of them after 1 year in which they were at least competitive in every game, who would want to take that kind of job. And yea maybe you are right about the cup cake schedudle because Central beat Union, but still it won't help Central come play-off time. And since you are saying he needs to tell the asst. Coaches to back off then which ones are you speaking of exactly and what are they doing?

You think Unions schedule will help them come play off time? They way I see it if it ended right now they'd go to Gate City and get it handed to them again....Everyone from Union acts like because they play Richlands they have the hardest schedule there is....

Seems doubtful to me they get in. They'll not beat Burton and TW is going to be more than a little challenging I think. It depends on how many more give up after losing to JIB as to how they play against TW.

I'll never count a win till the clock hits 0:00 unless we are up by a ton. I'll not count a win a week before the game is played for sure.

You don't have to. I'll do it for you. The only question is if they finish 4-6 or 3-7. With two games to play to me their record right now is 3-6.
